Depopulation or Overpopulation? What’s Our Problem?

Declining birth rates have been in the news the past few years, and last year U.S. population grew at the slowest rate in its history. This news has been met with alarm by many economists, business groups and commentators. IS this something we should be worried about? Or is it something we should be celebrating in an overpopulated country on an overpopulated planet? Meanwhile, Colorado was the sixth fastest growing state over the past decade. Do we want to be high on that list, or low? Filmmaker Dave Gardner shares what he learned about human population while producing the documentary, GrowthBusters: Hooked on Growth.

Dave Gardner spent most of his filmmaking career helping Fortune 500 companies grow their market, raise stock prices, manage their reputations, and improve productivity. He gave up that lucrative business, the country club membership and his quest for the “American Dream” in order to produce the documentary, GrowthBusters: Hooked on Growth. Now he devotes all his time to an effort to guarantee his kids – and all the children of the world – a good life.
