My Non-Political FBI/ from Hoover to a violent America
Feb 14, 2023
Being an FBI Agent was Bob's dream job. He worked his way up from Special Agent to Special Agent in Charge. Bob was assigned throughout the United States to combat crime for the Bureau. Bob's broad experience with the FBI will be detailed in his presentation to our Rotary. This will prove to be very informative with comments on the troubling trend of violence in America and a look at the Special agents who serve with the FBI. |

Youth Scholarships/ Colorado Department of Higher Education
Mar 21, 2023
Signed into law on June 6, 2014, the Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative (COSI) was created to address the Colorado Paradox, the state’s high proportion of adults with college degrees is due to credentialed migrants moving in instead of reflecting an educated homegrown workforce. COSI would expand the use of best practices throughout the state through a funding model that received bi-partisan approval. By leveraging state funds to generate local giving, the program grows community efforts and engages private donors to increase available scholarships well beyond the investment from the state. Knowing that scholarships must be paired with student supports to impact completion rates, the program’s Matching Student Scholarship (MSS) component complements the Community Partner Program (CPP) grants. By reaching students from a range of socio-economic classes (from 0-250 percent Pell-eligible) underserved students, for whom college seems out-of-reach, are able to not only afford a degree but also access the support they need to persist and graduate. |

Juarez Home building project
May 09, 2023
This will be an interesting presentation with Bill and John Fitzgerald. Quoting Bill : "I believe this project supports multiple Rotary Areas of Focus. It also is a very respected and honored project of our club, so I am excited for us to complete this round in coming months. I believe that we will attract some contributions from LFH Rotary and perhaps from our past partners in the project from South Jeffco Rotary. Perhaps the Foundation would consider making up any shortfall so we can fulfill our goal. We then will need to discuss how we wish to proceed in the future. If he can be present, I have asked Mike to speak at our May 9 "Nueve de Mayo" dinner meeting at Beau's Kitchen at the Sheraton, which will have a Mexican food menu. We also plan to invite his contact person, Allison, at Build Strong Academy to attend so we can thank her for the construction contribution Build Strong makes to his project." |
