My pathway to Rotary and my writing career...how I connect the two!

Jan 14, 2025 11:30 AM

A Minnesota native (born in St. Mary's Hospital, owned by the Mayo Clinic), he grew up in rural South Dakota and attended a one-room country school. He was the first member of his family to attend college, where he majored in journalism. Since then, he's gone back for a master's degree in journalism and public relations, taken courses in creative writing, and had a long career as a writer, editor, educator and p.r. specialist. He resides in Colorado.

In addition to writing hundreds of news, sports and feature stories, both as a journalist and in public relations, he's authored 9 books – including "And The Wind Whispered" (winner of a 2016 Colorado Book Award for historical fiction) and his newest, "Rainbow Rock," a mystery/thriller.

CrossPurpose Job Training and Career Counseling

Jan 21, 2025 11:30 AM

In our society today, when many Americans think about poverty, they tend to think in economic categories. You may have heard someone comment, “They just need to get a job!” as if that would solve the problem. While a good job may help someone escape poverty for a time, most cycle back in within 3-5 years. So, there is more at play than mere economics.

When many people look at people in poverty, they say, “What’s wrong with you?” At CrossPurpose, we start with “What’s happened to you?”

At CrossPurpose, we define our holistic approach as abolishing economic, relational, and spiritual poverty.

Great Outdoors Colorado

Apr 15, 2025 11:30 AM

These are the places that GOCO has helped open up and protect. Places we share. Places we take care of. Since 1992, GOCO has invested a portion of the proceeds from the Colorado Lottery to help outdoor organizations, including local governments, nonprofits, and Colorado Parks and Wildlife, complete more than 5,800 conservation and recreation projects in every corner of this spectacular state we call home. And that makes us all winners.
